Often described as a suburb with a city feel, View Ridge is the high point between Wedgwood (west) and Hawthorne Hills (south). There are no utility poles and power lines; wires were buried underground in the late 60's on both sides of Northeast 65th. A small neighborhood, tucked away on the hill with its quiet streets, sidewalks and neatly-groomed yards and as its name suggests, View Ridge boasts views to the east of Mount Rainier and Lake Washington. For those homes east of 50th Avenue Northeast, there are also views of the sunrise over the Cascade Mountains. The architecture of the neighborhood is a collection of styles, anything that will maximize the view with everything from quaint bungalows to larger contemporaries.
The View Ridge neighborhood is located north of NE 65th, east of 40th Ave Northeast, and west of Sand Point Way NE. It is near Sand Point Country Club, with its homes and golf course to the north, and Magnuson Park, which lies to the east near the former Sand Point Naval Air Station. It is considered a part of the Sand Point Peninsula.
This neighborhood is supportive of families, and features community centers in nearby Laurelhurst and Ravenna. There are at least three churches and two synagogues in the general area, and the View Ridge Community Club is always on the hunt for active members. The Neighborhood has annual community club meetings as well as monthly meetings and plenty of events for those involved in such activities as Little League and Boy Scouts. Schools include View Ridge Elementary, Eckstein Middle School and Roosevelt High School. The View Ridge Swim and Tennis Club are also located here. Also, there are a few local playgrounds--View Ridge Playground is located west of the school, and Bryant Park occupies the block across from Northeast 65th Street.
Conveniently located near the University of Washington, Husky Stadium, the University Village shopping center, Lake Washington, and Magnuson Park, View Ridge's well kept homes, lovely views and active community make it a place that residents are proud to call home.
