There is a distinct small-town feel to the Roosevelt neighborhood. It combines the best of both worlds: a reasonably quiet, low-crime residential area with plenty of amenities, and its own assortment of businesses. Unlike so many neighborhoods in Seattle that are known for a specific amenity or personality of the people who live there, Roosevelt is a combination of what makes Seattle a great place to live. The relaxed attitude, accessibility to many of Seattle's popular attractions and a variety of unique businesses make the Roosevelt neighborhood a well kept secret.
Occupying a gentle, south and west-facing slope, the Roosevelt neighborhood lies immediately East of I-5 and is crossed by several arterials. To the south, it's bordered by the University District and to the north, Northgate - both popular shopping areas. To the East is the Ravenna-Bryant neighborhood, and to the West is the Greenlake neighborhood. The intersection of Roosevelt and 65th is the heart of Roosevelt's business district and the most pedestrian friendly. Family-owned businesses take up most of the core commercial area.
Homes are generally modest in character, small wood-frame and Tudor brick homes that were developed in the 1920s, many with good views of the Olympics, the Cascades, Seattle's downtown, Mount Rainier, or of local parks and tree-lined boulevards.
Roosevelt is home to Froula Park and Cowen Park as well as Ravenna Boulevard, part of the City's historic Olmstead park system, which runs along the south and west borders of the neighborhood and provides pedestrian and bicycle pathways between the neighborhood and Greenlake Park.
