You've found the cultural heart of Seattle featuring over twenty city blocks of historic buildings, more than thirty galleries, a vibrant retail sector, and Seattle's most exciting nightlife.

Situated between downtown and the stadiums, the International District and the waterfront, Pioneer Square enjoys a central location, easily accessible by foot, bus, trolley, car, commuter rail, train, or ferry. The neighborhood, covering roughly the area from James Street to South Jackson Street, from the waterfront to Fourth Avenue South is abundant with Landmark destinations.

Filled with detailed architecture of the Victorian and Edwardian Era, Pioneer Square was declared a 30-acre Historic District in 1969 as preservationists rallied to save the area. Now a walk through the square will reveal the offices of some of the largest architectural, advertising and design firms in the area combined with independent storeowners specializing in everything from oriental rugs to maps. The restaurants cover a wide selection of cuisine and most have a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere as well as price. There are also a handful of higher end places to dine to keep a nice balance in the area. The nightlife in Pioneer Square is full of bars, pubs, and all hours nightclubs. Several of these locations have joined together to establish one cover charge to allow club-goers to enjoy the music and atmosphere of at least 5 clubs throughout the evening.

Pioneer Square is also adjacent to the two sports stadiums - Qwest Stadium home of the Seattle Seahawks and Safeco Field home of the American League Seattle Mariners. This makes Pioneer Square quite the happenin' place on game day either before or after the game.

The housing options in Pioneer Square consist of rentals and condos.

Despite changes over the years, the neighborhood is still a study in contrasts, a place where artists, street people and dot.com entrepreneurs mix in the café and clubs.

Median Prices: Condos $335,000
